He could see it. The mouse was just sitting there. What an idiot mouse. Obviously it had no idea he was watching him. He hadn't even been careful approaching it - he'd caught two mice already so any more would just be extra. He prepared to launch himself at the mouse. Wiggling his haunches slightly, he jumped and landed on top of it. It squeaked loudly but he killed it quickly, cutting off the high pitched noise. Twinetail's thin tail waved about with annoyance. The stupid mouse had just alerted every bit of prey in this area of the forest. He had enough but he had wanted to do better and feed his clan well. He worried about food in leaf-fall. His stomach grumbled. He was hungry but this was for the clan and it had to be fed first. Just think of Twixpaw, he told himself. Like what you'll say to her on the night of her warrior ceremony. It's not going to be far away. You've got to be prepared. While Twinetail was thinking over this, he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Therefore, it wasn't surprising he walked into a tree.

Thunderpelt chuckled, and trotted toward Twinetail, "Better watch where you're going next time." He flicked his tail, and pawed at the chilled ground, "Icefur and I have been hunting since sunhigh. She just went off chasing a squirrel. The prey seems to keeping warm today." He looked over Twinetail, "Have you had any luck?" Behind him, dry leaves rustled, and Icefur trotted toward them, with a squirrel clutched in her mouth. Thunderpelt purred, "Nice catch!" ___________________________________________________________________________________
Icefur dropped the squirrel and dipped her head to Thunderpelt, "Thank you. And hello Twinetail, I see you're also hunting. Have you had any luck? Me and Thunderpelt have had some trouble." Her eyes glinted, and she sat next to the squirrel, a soft breeze filtered through the trees, and she shivered slightly.

Twinetail smiled at the two cats and shook his head to try and clear it. The tree was very hard; something he should have expected really. Anyway, he supposed he should reply to the two cats. "Well, I've caught three mice now," he said offhandedly. "I've been out since a bit after you, I guess. Have you caught anything else apart from that squirrel? Because I don't think that there's anything else left now; the stupid mouse I just caught squealed it's head off. I wasn't fast enough I guess."

Thunderpelt shook his head slowly, "Apart from that squirrel, not much. I got a mouse, and I buried it, and Icefur got also caught one, but that's it. I'm not sure how much of the Clan that's going to feed. I think we should stay out a little longer, and see what we can find." He flicked his tail toward Icefur, "Are you okay to keep going?" Icefur quickly nodded, and said, "Yes, I am. I'd like to stop and eat, but, I don't think we can afford to do that. Let's keep going." Thunderpelt looked at Twinetail, "Do you want to come with us?" ___________________________________________________________________________________
Icefur purred softly, "Thunderpelt, if he's been out longer then us, then he might be more tired." She looked into Twinetail's eyes, "If you want, you can come with us. Or, you can take those mice back to the Clan, and rest. I'm sure they would be happy to have some food." She flicked her tail, and heard a rustle in the leaves, she started to crouch, but Thunderpelt lashed his tail at her flank, and lunged after the squirrel. Icefur laughed, and looked back at Twintail, "I guess I should follow him. Are you coming?"

Twinetail nodded; they were sure to get more if they travelled together. Besides, he was a great hunter and he loved showing his skills off. "Yeah, sure, I'll come with you," he said. "Three cats are better than one. We're bound to catch loads; especially with me here!" Twinetail laughed, making it clear he was joking. "Let's go then."

Thunderpelt saw a tree up ahead, and guessed that was where the squirrel was headed. He leaned into longer strides, and groaned as he lunged after the squirrel again, but the quick creature was already making it's way up the tree. He sighed, and sat on the frosted forest ground, to catch his breath. He flicked his ears toward the sound of crunching leaves, he breathed in the air, and quickly scented Icefur. Thunderpelt gave his chest a couple licks, and then he trotted toward Icefur's scent. ___________________________________________________________________________________
Icefur waved her tail in greeting at Thunderpelt, "Did you catch that squirrel?" He slowly shook his head, and meowed, "No, it got away up a tree." Icefur sighed, and tenderly purred, "It's okay. We've got a decent amount of food. Five mice and a squirrel, I don't know how much of the Clan that's going to feed, but I hope it gets us through until tomorrow." Thunderpelt nodded in agreement, and Icefur turned to face Twinetail, "Do you want to go fetch the mice you caught and meet us back at camp?"
