Riverflame padded towards the river, her Clan's only true food source, aside from voles and a few birds if a cat was quick enough. But, when she was growing up alone, Riverflame was lucky enough to learn to catch mice, voles, and birds. She only learned to catch fish when she joined RiverClan.
She stared sadly at the river, then back towards camp. She knew kits might not live out the winter if their mothers didn't have enough to eat. Riverflame herself hadn't had a decent meal since the river froze over.
"Mother, I wish you were here..." she murmured to herself, glancing up at the sky. Her mother had raised her to believe in StarClan, and she kept that belief all her life.
(( OoC//: First RP on here, don't know if it's decent or not... ))

((OOC: It's perfect.))
Smallclaw lowered his head, blocking the sharp reeds from getting in his eyes. It was almost New-Leaf, and the plant's seeds seemed especially... seedy. Seeds were getting caught in Smallclaw's fur, and the young tom realized that a lot of grooming would have to be done.
The ground below the paws of Smallclaw was moist, and there was still a hint of snow. As he neared the river, water sloshed in-between his toes. That's when he saw Riverflame.
"Er... Hi." The usually bouncy tom said. He was not usually a good conversation starter, especially around the ladies...

(( OoC//: Oh, cool, thanks! *sighs in relief* ^^ ))
Riverflame jumped, too busy in her own thoughts to notice the tom before he spoke. Careless of her. Her tail tip flicked in annoyance at herself. "Hi, Smallclaw," she responded, turning to face him. She glanced at him before gazing back down into the frozen river. She scratched at it, hoping to make some kind of mark. "It's completely frozen." she sighed to herself, listening for any signs of land prey.
Her whiskers twitched and her ears angled towards the rustle of bushes, hoping it was a mouse. But as a cool breeze settled over her, she knew it wasn't prey. She lowered her head again and turned back to the tom. "Smallclaw, do you think RiverClan will survive the winter? What if another Clan attacks? Most of our warriors haven't caught as much prey since the river froze over."

Longfeather padded slowly behind Smallclaw, his tapered tail swishing as he went. Pricking his large ears, he paused as he saw Smallclaw and Riverflame; a very peculiar looking she-cat, although of course it didn't matter much to him since he was "different" as well.
Copper eyes gleaming, he quickly got to Emberpaw's side, the river churning close by. The tom wasn't all too fond of the renegade torrent, but it was intriguing to say the least. "Greetings," he meowed softly at last, his attention now on the others.

Riverflame dipped her head in greeting to the apprentice, tail twitching in anxiety. The river should be thawed by now, surely? As another warrior came up, the she-cat met the eyes of Longfeather and flicked her ears to show she heard him. "Hello," she meowed, and she gazed at the riverbank. There was a faint scent of vole somewhere, but she couldn't pinpoint it. It couldn't be stupid enough not to scent so many cats though; it was probably several fox-lengths away, cowering under some roots. Riverflame scented the air anyway. The Clan needed prey, and if she could find any, it would be worth it.

Smallclaw was about to reply to Riverflame, when he saw the lithe figure of Longfeather approach. The words froze as he saw the peculiar cat speak.
"Greetings," he heard Longfeather say. The small tom could only flex his tiny claws and say "Hello." His head was down. Why am I acting like a scolded kit?! he thought, and raised his head. He looked Longfeather straight in the eye, and was chilled by the other tom's gaze.

Riverflame watched Smallclaw curiously. What was wrong? Ignoring it, she continued searching for any signs of prey. "Where could they all be hiding?" she asked herself quietly, and her eyes scanned the grasses beside the river's edge. The she-cat scented the air once again, but this time it brought the scent of vole, a water vole. It would probably be very thin, but it was better than nothing. If she could find it. Riverflame pricked her ears, angling them in the direction the scent was coming from, and she heard a quiet rustle of twigs. It could be the wind, and she could scare the vole away. Or, it may be prey and she might miss the opportunity. She took a deep breath, praying to StarClan that it was the vole, and crouched. She had pinpointed the sound, but was still deliberating in the back of her mind. What if she was wrong? Still, the hope clung to her, and made her ignorant of her thoughts. She launched herself towards the sound, and landed only a mouse-length in front of the vole. Her head darted down to snap it's neck, but it scurried away, her teeth meeting a clump of cold ground. Ignoring the taste of earth, she lunged after it, and her teeth connected with it's back. Just barely, but it was pure luck that she heard it at all in the first place.
She raised her head, the vole in her jaws. It was skinnier than she thought possible, but it was something. She padded over a few tail-lengths to bury it, and then she padded back. "Sorry," she meowed, but her eyes sparkled. She had caught something for the Clan, and she was happy with herself. Even if it was hardly a mouthful.

Longfeather's blank eyes gazed steadily back at Smallclaw, even when the other tom averted his. Only once Riverflame went off and then came back with a scrawny vole in her jaws did he take his copper eyes off the warrior. "Good catch," he meowed softly, his sand-colored tail twitching as he spoke.

Smallclaw shook, and raised his head with pride. He was a warrior, not a kit. He sat down, and congratulated Riverflame on her catch. "It's a nice vole." he said. His striped tail swished from side to side.

Riverflame's eyes glistened with pride and a low purr escaped her throat. She dipper her head in thanks, and then padded over to scratch at the river. A large ship came out, but the sound of rushing water was still buried under an entire Leaf-Bare of ice. It would thaw on it's own.
She sighed and sat, drawing a paw over her ear nonchalantly. She licked her whiskers, cleaning off the taste of vole.

Smallclaw smiled with his eyes, and noticed Riverflame grooming by the river. She certainly had a nice figure, he thought, dozing off.
OOC: Perfectly fine. The site isn't very strict about the nuber of words or lines. If you don't have much to say, I don't think you need to stretch it out too much. No worries. Hakuna Matata.

(( Haha, that used to be my favorite movie! x3 ))
Riverflame sighed, shaking out her fur. She was bored, and didn't feel like yowling at the river until it thawed. She should probably try hunting again, but she figured she could hunt later. And then she could rest afterward. No use in sleeping now just to wake up to go hunting again.

Smallclaw watched Riverflame shake out her fur, and he enjoyed every minute of it... his face relaxed at the sight of her...
Smallclaw woke up from his little daydream and sighed, looking to the river. Gathering up his strength, he stuch his head into the water and moments later, a fish was in his mouth. He set it aside, and started licking his wet paws. He saw dark clouds starting to form above him, and he wondered what they would bring.
OOC: I love that movie. Eep, Smallclaw sounds like a little cat molester.

"Hmm," Longfeather growled, thoughtful. He was watching Smallclaw carefully, taking note of his expressions and where his eyes lingered. Copper eyes emotionless, he flicked his tail and twitched his whiskers; a mixed signal that could either be taken as disapproval or amusement. It didn't matter to him, the personal affairs of others. The part of his brain that responded appropriately to these sort of things was switched off and broken. Looking at the sky, he noticed the beginnings of thunderheads. Eyes still placid, he lowered his gaze back down to company, saying nothing.

(( Haha, fun. x3 ))
Riverflame glanced up at the sound of water splashing, and twitched her whiskers in surprise. "Great catch," she meowed, dipping her head at the fish. Not to be outdone, she glanced down at a melted section of the river, and watched for a moment. She darted a paw down, and missed the silvery fish by only a mouse-length or so. She sighed, beginning to clean her paw off. She wasn't very good at catching water-prey. Though she was a RiverClan cat, and born to a RiverClan mother, she had been taught to catch mice and voles and such. There was never a good stream where she was raised.

"Thank you." Smallclaw said, beaming. He was oblivious of Longfeather's reaction. His eyes were focused only on the she-cat presence...
He saw Riverflame fail to catch the fish. He didn't know what to say. His mind started spazzing. Panic panic! Relax... relax...

Riverflame paused in her washing to glance down at the water again. She didn't notice any fish anymore, at least, none that she could catch easily. So instead she continued grooming herself, and then stood. She padded over to a tree and gazed up, wondering if there were any squirrels or birds out. There were none, in this tree at least. With a sigh, Riverflame shook her head and padded back, settling herself beside the river's edge. "Where's all the prey?" she muttered. "There's always a lot by the water."

"I don't know." Smallclaw said. "There must be a disturbance up the river." He could only imagine what could be up the river. Probably twolegs... The tawny cat thought.
