As some of the first chilling winds blew across the moorlands of Windclan territory, a small, lone figure sat down on the Outlook rock. The cat's gaze traveled up to the moon and the stars, as if he was looking at them with such intensity. This young warrior's name was Sparrowcall. The young tom often felt troubled, and one of the only times he could escape those troubles was when he was gazing up at the sky during the night. He closed his eyes for a moment, as if to escape all of the chaos that seemed to be going on in the clans right now. The disease, the Dead Plains....... So many things troubled this young warrior. To make it worse, his fierce loyalty to his clan went against his insatiable desire to escape all of the chaos, and it left him confused. Sparrowcall felt like at times, he just didn't know what to do. Also, the image of his mentor dying not to long ago still burned in the memory of this young warrior. Sparrowcall opened his eyes, and shivered for a moment as a chilling breeze blew by. However, his gaze not once drifted from the sky. [/blockquote]

Lightsky silently padded up to Sparrowcall, her white pelt ruffled softly in the cool breeze. As she approached him, she noticed he was staring up at the starry sky. She sat slowly sat next to him, and purred, "Watching for our warrior ancestors, Sparrowcall?" There was a hint of humer in her voice, along with a mix of understanding.
Lightsky gently laid her tail around paws, and followed Sparrowcall's gaze up to the glimmering skies, that stretched far beyond their vision. She sighed, and followed the maze of stars that filled, and lit the sky. Her breath came in clouds, and the wind carried it out over the trees, and although she was cold, and in thought, she felt, another emotion coming from young Sparrowcall, next to her.

Sparrowcall narrowed his eyes slightly and looked down at the ground as he lashed his tail in annoyance. "What do you want Lightsky." He said quietly. His words came out as less of a question, and more as a straightforward statement. Can't she see that I want to be alone? Sparrowcall thought as he looked up. The harsh gaze in his eyes was a mix of anger, annoyance, but also confusion. Finally, he sighed and said, "Sorry. I'm just a bit...." He paused. What's the word? Sparrowcall thought as he looked up at the sky. "Troubled." He finished, his voice trailing off to a mere whisper. Sparrowcall looked at Lightsky as he apologized, but quickly shook his head at shifted his gaze to the stars. He quite honestly didn't feel like revealing his worries to Lightsky, or to any cat, at the moment. However, part of him felt like he wanted to talk about his confusions and worries. Sparrowcall shook his head, and pushed the feeling away. [/blockquote]

Lightsky flinched away from Sparrowcall's tone. A small feeling of pain throbbed through her body. She looked at her paws, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you. I guess.....I guess I'll go back to the camp...." She slowly stood, and looked over Sparrowcall again, and let out a sigh, he obviously doesn't want to be disturbed....
Lightsky took a step away, but her paws felt heavy, and she found it hard to walk away. She glanced over her shoulder at Sparrowcall, and opened her mouth to speak, "Sparrowcall I-.....never mind. I'm sorry." Lightsky let out a breath, and watched it's cloud float away, and then looked at her paws, and forced herself to start walking back toward the forest.

Sparrowcall felt angry with himself for driving Lightsky away. "No, wait. I'm sorry." He leaped off of the rock, his pelt rippling in the moonlight. He shivered from the wind as he took a step forward. "I'm sorry....." He repeated. Sparrowcall paused as he tried to find the words to describe his feelings. "I've had a lot on my mind lately. I just feel like I have this insatiable desire to escape all of this chaos...." His voice trailed off as he paused. "It's hard to explain." He let out a long, quiet sigh as he questioned himself. Should I have told her? It wasn't like Sparrowcall to open up like this, as he has always been a rather unsocial and independent cat. [/blockquote]

Lightsky paused in mid-step, and looked at Sparrowcall, her heart throbbed, and she longed to go comfort him. But she knew that they couldn't be together, Sparrowcall was a young, strong, loyal warrior. And she, was not a young as him, but she was still strong and loyal, but not nearly ready to go join the elders yet.
She purred, "Sparrowcall, you are young, and you have a lot to think about. I understand if I was bothering you. Sometimes, you just want to be alone with yourself, and that's okay. But remember to be open to anything, don't restrain yourself from what life has to offer." She smiled, and prepared to start walking again.

Sparrowcall stood still, unable to find words. Normally, at a time like this, the company of other cats would, well, bother him. However, he felt the need to pour out all of his worries to a cat. Any cat. Without warning, he stepped forward and blurted out, "I don't know what to do! I want to stay loyal, but I just can't take all of this chaos! Dead Plains.... Disease.... I just can't take it...." Sparrowcall left out the part about his mentor, but he didn't open his mouth to mention it. It was fresh in his mind, and he simply didn't want to talk about that.
The annoyance from Sparrowcall's eyes was gone, and was replaced almost instantly with confusion and frustration, for behind his hard exterior, he just didn't know what to do anymore. [/blockquote]

Lightsky smiled, and turned to face Sparrowcall. She softly purred, "Sparrowcall, we are all dealing with the same things. Everything you mentioned, is a threat to all cats. But don't let fear, hold you back from enjoying the so many good things in life." She flicked her tail, and twitched her ear, "It's not any fun, sitting around hunched up, being afraid, and trying to avoid the bad things, is it? You have to try and ignore those, and enjoy what you can."
Lightsky looked at Sparrowcall's eyes for a moment longer, and in that moment her strong feelings for him began to flow again. She sighed, and blinked, "Now come on, we should be getting back to camp."

The young warrior searched Lightsky's eyes, in confusion. "How can you possibly remain so calm?! It's as if we are all so star-crossed right now...." A high-strung edge was in Sparrowcall's voice, and he turned around. Am I just so nervous because I'm just a new warrior? Shaking his head, he turned back around. "So many things have happened... I find it hard to stay calm when it's as if disease and the Dead Plains are just blatantly staring us in the face..." His voice was a bit softer this time, not quite a yell, but not quite a whisper either. The high-strung edge remained in his voice, however. He lashed his tail through the air, not in anger, but in confusion. Sparrowcall gazed up at the sky, calming himself down ever so slightly. "It's painfully obvious that I'm just so confused and frustrated, isn't it?" He said rather quietly, not turning his gaze away from the sky. [/blockquote]

Lightsky saw how troubled young Sparrowcall was. She softened her voice, yet again, "Sparrowcall, you can't live in fear like this. It's not good for you. Yes, there are things that can happen, there are things that we should be afraid of, but not let them make ourselves lock up, and block out the good things. Most all of us, fear these things. But we don't let them control us. We have fun, we focus on the good things." She looked over him again, "And I can show you that you can enjoy life, without constantly coming back to these fears. But you have to be willing to let the good things come into your life. Come back to camp with me, and try and forget about those things." Lightsky looked at her paws, one of the things she wanted to show him, was love. I want to show him how amazing it is. Then we could have fun together, and if he finds a cat to love, he might be open to try more things, and enjoy himself. But....he won't want to be my mate. I guess we just aren't supposed to be together. But I know there is a cat out there, that will make him happy. Lightsky purred, and playfully flicked her tail against his flank, "Now, come on."

Sparrowcall felt a bit better, and he turned his gaze away from the sky. "Oh, but I was having so much fun sitting here." He said sarcastically as he walked forward. There was still a high-strung edge to his voice, but it was less noticeable. His fur ruffled as a strong wind swept across the moorlands. At least I can feel at home here on the open moorlands. He thought as he shivered slightly from the cold. Sparrowcall nodded as he flicked his tail back at Lightsky's flank. "Ok. Lets go." It wasn't long after he said this that he broke into a run, and he looked back once to see if Lightsky was following. "I don't know about you, but I'm getting cold out here!" He yelled as he ran forward. For the first time in quite a while, young Sparrowcall could actually enjoy running over the windswept moorlands. [/blockquote]

Lightsky watched Sparrowcall run, a smile spread across her face, and she lunged after him. The wind blew back her fur, and chilled her skin, but she didn't care. Sparrowcall looked like he was having fun, he might finally be able to get over his fears. She swiftly ran after him, laughing, and called, "Wait for me!" Then she added in a whisper, "I'm not as young as you are, you know."
Lightsky still felt empty when she was around Sparrowcall, because of the strong feelings she had when she was around him. But also because of the fact that he didn't seem to have the same feelings, he thought about other things, he almost seemed to....avoid her.
She pushed those thoughts away, it didn't matter how Sparrowcall thought of her, only that they could be friends, and he learned to enjoy himself. Lightsky caught up with him, and playfully meowed, "Race you back to camp!" She increased her speed so that she sprinted ahead of him.

As the wind lashed across young Sparrowcall's face, he let out yell. "Sure!" He began to run faster. "But you know that I am going to win, right?" There was a ring of laughter to his voice as he ran, and soon enough, he caught up to Lightsky. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he sprinted, pulling ahead of Lightsky. With a yowl, he raced ahead. "Take THAT!" Sparrowcall yelled back. Unlike most times, there was no trace of anger or annoyance in his voice, he was simply enjoying the race.
However, Sparrowcall couldn't help wondering why he had suddenly decided to reveal his worries to a cat. Shrugging, he continued to run, his pelt shining in the moonlight. [/blockquote]

Lightsky took in a breath of air, and leaned into a longer stride, pulling herself silently, and quickly over the moonlit open moorland. She flexed her muscles, and pulled harder, she was now side by side with Sparrowcall. Her eyes glimmered, as she watched him run, he had seemed to forget his fears, and just let himself run.
Lightsky meowed, and started to pull ahead of him, she called back over her shoulder, "Try and catch me now!" She laughed, and the familiar scents of the camp started to drift up her nose.

Sparrowcall squinted ever so slightly as he ran, for the wind was continuing to lash at his face. However, that failed to dampen his bright mood. With a smile on his face he pulled ahead of Lightsky, his legs carrying him as fast as they could go. Despite his speed, he moved quietly, as he didn't want to frighten off all of the prey. Among the scent of the territory, a familiar scent rose up. The scent of the camp. He continued to sprint, and charged into camp. Sparrowcall stopped himself quickly, so as to not wake up all of the other cats. He panted for a few moments before saying, "Hah. I guess that's that." The young warrior smiled, and laughter shone in his eyes. Sparrowcall could actually enjoy running across the moorlands for once. [/blockquote]

Lightsky skidded to a stop next to Sparrowcall, her eyes shinning. She panted, and flicked her tail against his side, "That was fun." She stopped to catch her breath, then meowed, "Do you want to get something to eat? I'm hungry now, after that run."
She twitched her ears, and breathed in the air, trying to figure out how long ago the hunting patrols had brought back more food. The meat smelled fairly fresh, and made her mouth water. Lightsky looked at Sparrowcall, and blinked, "Well? Are you up for something to eat?"

Still panting slightly, Sparrowcall turned around and faced Lightsky. "No thanks. I'm just tired." He said as he proceeded to yawn rather loudly. As a breeze blew across the moorlands, bringing with it the chill of leaf-bare. Hard times are coming. Sparrowcall thought as he began to pad over to what looked like a comfortable spot to sleep. Sure enough, this will be one of the hardest leaf-bares I've ever witnessed. Laying down, he gave a content sigh. Well, that's not really saying much since I was made a warrior not long ago. He chuckled to himself ever so quietly, as he drifted off into his thoughts, and finally, his dreams. [/blockquote]

Lightsky sighed, and nodded, and then padded off to the warrior's den. She glanced again at Sparrowcall, and purred, "See you in the morning." Her eyes glimmered, and she licked his ear tenderly, before ducking into the cozy warmth of the warrior's den. She circled a few times, and then laid on the soft moss, and curled up. Lightsky took a long breath, laid her tail over her nose, and pulled her legs in tighter.
