I'm going to be staying for a long time, that's for sure. But I'll tell you all this: Between my current life situation and the issues that need to be resolved around here, I may be going away for a while.
This said, I don't think it will last for more than a week at a time. I won't know when exactly, but if I happen to disappear for any amount of time, it will probably be because of real life problems.
However.
If things continue around here the way they have, I won't be on much. I have loved this site since I joined, as it was one of the first RP sites I kept up with. I loved how the members interacted with each other, and I loved how Alex ran the site. Everything was worth logging on for.
When Alex temporarily left the site, I assumed everything would continue the way it had been. When she retired, I realized that I was so wrong, I didn't even understand how it happened.
I understand that she left, and left it in new hands. I honestly do. But it is still her site! She can do whatever she wants with it!
I don't think that the site should be put in maintenance mode for any reason. Especially without asking or even telling Alex.
I am seriously frustrated right now, and am trying my best to stay reasonable and polite. But it's proving to be very difficult when nothing that is happening right now makes it better. New members and even guests are going to see this activity check, and they will assume the worst. No potential members will join if they see this. Who would? When I'm looking for a new RP site, I check the Cbox, then the plot, and then I check for any activity checks or updates. If anything I see leads to possible inactivity, I don't join. I don't like to RP on inactive sites. So why would anyone else?
I respect you Crowy, and I know that not only are you in charge but are also trying your best. But all of the changes that The First Life has gone through lately have been for the worse.
I'm tired of logging on to see complaints about Alex and inactivity and whatever else. If you don't want the site to go inactive, don't put it in maintenance mode. That won't solve anything. Instead, RP! Seriously, just go to a random board and post with a cat that would be there!
So until these problems are resolved, I will be standing by. I will roleplay when I get time, and when someone else can start the thread. I agree, the site needs more life. But maintenance mode isn't the way to do it.
