The sun was reflected off the river's cool, fresh surface. Many leaves in array of yellows and orange had fallen in, sweeping down with the water as fished bobbed and the litter. The white pelt of Lightstar himself gleamed in the hot mid-afternoon light. He had a golden gaze focusing on the side of the river, determining its level. The leader had requested his deputy to come out and speak with him on the sickeningly heated day, in a small hope that they could get away from camp alone. There were plans for Leaf-bare they had to make, even though the season had just become Leaf-fall, they had to watch the seasons change once more. The river could be frozen before RiverClan knew it, and so the tom wanted to be ready for anything. He was lost deep in thought, less on alert than usual as he stood out of the shadow of the trees.
