Nightpaw crept through the ferns, and bushes, keeping his tail close to the ground, and his ears pinned against his head. A mouse scent drifted up his nose, Might as well take something back to the clan. He unsheathed his claws, and stalked up behind the mouse, then sprang, sending up a cloud of dust, he grabbed the mouse between his paws, and sank his teeth in around it's neck, and then he murmured a prayer to Starclan. Nightpaw buried the mouse, and shuffled some leaves over it, then continued crawling toward the river.
His ears pricked as he heard rushing water, Nightpaw leapt out of the bushes, and walked to the riverbank, the water lapped at his paws. He looked across the shinning water, and stared at the Riverclan bank, there were no signs of any warriors, so he plunged into the water, and quickly waded across to the other side. He crawled out of the chilly water, and shook the water from his fur. As strange scents started to fill his scent glands, he quickly licked his chest a few times, then cautiously took a few steps toward the brambles and bushes.

Mistpaw crouched, and pawed her way around Rivertail, he urged her on, "Come at me, you can't wait too long, or your enemy might get the first attack." Mistpaw licked her muzzle, and charged at her mentor, he dodged to one side, but she was ready. Mistpaw lunged off of the ground where he had been a moment ago, and flung herself at him. She landed on his back, and playfully scratched at his pelt, although her claws were sheathed. Rivertail laughed, and faced her, "That was very good." He licked her head, then suddenly stiffened.

Rivertail sniffed in the scent, Thunderclan. "Mistpaw, do you smell that?" She lifted her head to the air, and took in a breath, "Yes, I think it's Thunderclan!" He nodded, and faced the direction the scent was coming from, "What are they doing here?" He quickly glanced at his apprentice, "Come, but be careful, we don't know what they want." She nodded her head quickly in reply, and Rivertail jumped from the ground, and through the bushes, and growled. The intruder was a Thunderclan apprentice, Mistpaw tilted her head, "Wait, I know him. Remember, from the attack on Windclan? He was there." Rivertail studied the cat, "Yes, I do remember you. But what are you doing on our territory?" The apprentice took a step toward them, and meowed, "I came to see Mistpaw." Rivertail, startled, looked from the Thunderclan apprentice, to Mistpaw, and back, then flicked his tail.

"Well, well. What do we have here?" Swiftshadow said as he padded over to Rivertail and Mistpaw. He had been hunting, and caught the scent of a Thunderclan cat. Swiftshadow glared at the apprentice and said, "Why have you come here?" He bared his fangs and unsheathed his claws, ready at any moment to attack if needed. His amber eyes revealed a hint of curiosity, despite his ferocious appearance. What could be his motives for coming here..... He thought he waited for the apprentice to reply.

Nightpaw's fur bristled, but he crouched, and started to back away, "I just wanted to talk to Mistpaw. It's....important. Please?" He looked at the two Riverclan warriors, then caught the confused gaze of Mistpaw, he looked into her beautiful eyes, and pleaded. She shook her head, and looked at her paws. Nightpaw hoped that his effort to talk to her would not be wasted. Does she want me to go away? He flicked his ear, and started to open his mouth again, but Mistpaw spoke first.

"Let him talk to me, Rivertail, no harm could come out of talking, could it?" Mistpaw lashed her tail, and glanced quickly at Nightpaw, his eyes shone hopefully. What could he want to talk to me about? Mistpaw sighed, and looked up at Rivertail.

Rivertail looked at Swiftshadow, "I don't know, Mistpaw. He's from another clan, so it might not be safe, but it is only one apprentice....Swiftshadow, what do you think?" He glanced at Nightpaw from the corner of his eye, and noticed that he was staring at Mistpaw, even though she wasn't looking at him.

The apprentice had sparked Swiftshadow's curiosity, but he still held a firm gaze at the apprentice. His tail lashed back and forth as he replied, "Hmmm. I still don't like this." Swiftshadow's amber eyes darted to Rivertail, and then the apprentice. "State your name." He said rather harshly as he took a step forward. He still held his intimidating amber gaze, and curiously looked over the apprentice. After a moment, he glanced over at Mistpaw, and then back to the intruder..

Nightpaw took a slow step toward Mistpaw, "I'm Nightpaw, from Thunderclan. Can I please talk to Mistpaw, I have to get back soon, and I don't want to get in trouble or anything...." He met Mistpaw's eyes, and noticed that they were glinting with amusement, and she was smiling.

Mistpaw lashed her tail, "I don't think he means any harm, Rivertail." She licked her chest, and curled her tail neatly around her paws. Mistpaw felt Rivertail flick his tail against her, and she glanced at him from the corner of her eye, but she didn't say anything.

Rivertail sighed, "Mistpaw, I know he probably doesn't mean any harm. But, it would probably be better, for both of our clans, if he didn't speak to you." His apprentice tilted her head, "Why? Can't we just let him say what he has to say to me, and then move on?" Rivertail looked at Swiftshadow, "It's not always that easy, Mistpaw. Swiftshadow, shall we let them speak?" He waved his tail back and forth, keeping an eye on the Thunderclan apprentice.

Swiftshadow held his amber gaze at Nightpaw. Without looking at Rivertail he replied, "Rivertail, an apprentice from another clan just appeared randomly. I'm not just going to walk away." He was still curious about the apprentice, but he kept a firm gaze. Swiftshadow glared at Nightpaw, but didn't speak. His gaze never shifted from the apprentice as he lashed his tail about.

Nightpaw glared sharply at the Riverclan warrior, "I'm not going to hurt anyone. I promise, my intentions are good, and what I have to say to Mistpaw is....important, in a way. And it's only for her ears." As he said this, he laid his eyes on the two Riverclan warriors, and flicked his tail. Nightpaw then softly purred to Mistpaw, "Please. Just listen to me." He took another slow step toward her.

Mistpaw glanced up at Rivertail, then looked at her paws, and shook her, "Nightpaw, I believe that you only came here with good intentions, but....as Rivertail, and Swiftshadow said....I just think it would be best if we stayed in our own territory, minding our own business." It saddened her to say this, and she closed her eyes, not able to face the apprentice, that had gone through so much trouble, just talk to her. But, Mistpaw knew that she had to keep her loyalty to Riverclan.

Rivertail watched Mistpaw, his eyes softening as he noticed how hard it was for her to say the words she had said to Nightpaw, but it proved her loyalty. Rivertail licked her ear, "Mistpaw, you are a true warrior to hold your loyalty to your clan like that. And Nightpaw, I, like Mistpaw, believe that you didn't mean any harm by coming here. But it would be best, if you left, and stayed with Thunderclan, and let Mistpaw focus on her training." He watched as the apprentice slowly stood, siltently nodded, and turned to walk back toward the river. Mistpaw opened her eyes, and looked sadly after him, Rivertail flicked his tail against her flank, and then in that same moment, she jumped up, "Wait!" Rivertail eyes widened, and he stared at his apprentice, as she trotted over to Nightpaw, "Mistpaw, what are you doing?" She shook her head, "Let him talk to me."

Swiftshadow's still held his amber gaze at the intruder. He still did not speak, but the expression in his eyes said everything. He wanted the intruder to leave. His eyes narrowed as the intruder stepped closer, but he did not move. He stayed where he was, silent and still. It was only when Mistpaw got up and trotted over to Nightpaw did Swiftshadow speak. "Mistpaw, wait." He said in a calm, but strict voice. Swiftshadow took a step closer, and looked at Nightpaw.

Nightpaw paused, and looked over his shoulder, "Really, all I want is to talk to her, I promise I won't do anything else, I'll go back to my own territory as soon as I've said what I want to say." He flicked his ear, and glanced at Mistpaw, her eyes pleading along with him.

Mistpaw lashed her tail across the air, "Please, Rivertail? It would probably make things easier?" She breathed in the air, and coughed as the heavy scent of Thunderclan filled her nose. "And the sooner I talked to him, the better." She blinked slowly.

Rivertail sighed, "Fine, you can talk, but that is it. Understand? And Swiftshadow and I will be watching." Nightpaw pawed at the ground, "But, I only want Mistpaw to hear what I have to say." Rivertail narrowed his eyes, "Then I suggest you talk quiet." He glanced quickly at Mistpaw, then at Swiftshadow.

Swiftshadow have a small nod as he stepped back. He didn't speak, but held his gaze at Nightpaw before. After a quick glance at Rivertail and then Mistpaw, his amber eyes went back to the intruder. Swiftshadow sat down beside Rivertail, and narrowed his eyes. He still didn't speak, but his expression revealed that he felt uneasy. He turned his amber gaze to Mistpaw, and then back to the intruder as he flicked his tail about. "Yes." He said, agreeing with Rivertail. Despite his appearance, Swiftshadow still felt uneasy. He pawed at the ground for a few moments, before turning his gaze back to Nightpaw.

Nightpaw dipped his head to the Riverclan warriors, "Thank you." He faced Mistpaw, "Come on. Let's go." He stood, and waved his tail, signaling Mistpaw to follow him, he trotted closer to the river, and sat again, curling his tail neatly around his legs, "Mistpaw.....I came here, to....to..." Mistpaw sat carefully on the ground, and lashed her tail in the air, "What?" Her eyes sparkled, and Nightpaw sighed, "I know, we're apprentices...but...that day in the Windclan camp.....I....I think I love you." Mistpaw stared at him., her tail stopped flicking, and stuck straight in the air, her ears stood straight, and her eyes widened, "You, you love me?" Nighpaw nodded, and pawed at the dirt.

Mistpaw glanced at Rivertail, his eyes were narrow as he watched them. Mistpaw looked at the river, "Nightpaw, that is....kind. And, I guess I like you too. But, we're from different, clans, and...and, I don't know..." Nightpaw purred, "I don't know what I was expecting from you...But, I just had to tell you." Mistpaw laughed, "I'm glad you did. Thank you, for going through all of this, to tell me that. And, we don't really have time to talk now, so, will you meet me, at Fourtrees, tomorrow?" Nightpaw nodded, "Yes, in the morning. Early." Mistpaw licked his ear, "I look foward to it." Nightpaw meowed, and plunged into the river, as Mistpaw trotted back to Rivertail and Swiftshadow.

Rivertail flicked his tail, "Well, what did he want to tell you?" Mistpaw glanced at him, "It was for my ears. I'm sorry, Rivertail." Rivertail unsheathed his claws, and the fur on his shoulders bristled, but he decided not to pressure Mistpaw, so he waved his tail at Swiftshadow, "Come on, let's go back to camp." Rivertail stood, and trotted back to the Riverclan with Mistpaw at his side.
