The sun was just rising to indicate a new day, and although it was barely past dawn, there was something important to do. Ususally ceramonies were held with silverpelt glowing above, but for this he felt that StarClan would not need to have the usual traditions fulfilled.
Within moments, the leader was from the mouth of his den to the center of camp, where he began to yowl. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather in camp for a Clan meeting." Then, Lightstar fell silent, waiting for his warriors to be aroused and ready; and his deputy to come stand at his side. She seemed to be busy these days, but the tom was still proud of her, noting that the other report to be made would also be news to the female.
His golden eyes swept over the camp, listening to the rustle of cattails. |

Riverflame trotted out of the warrior's den, blinking rapidly to adjust her eyes to the rising sun.
"A Clan meeting?" she wondered aloud, yawning before continuing forward until she was within hearing distance of the leader. She sat and curled her tail around her paws. "I wonder what for..."
She wracked her memory for upcoming events, new apprentices, new warriors, anything, but nothing came up. Of course, the fact that she was half-asleep didn't help either.

Owlkit bounce right out of the nursery, standing on the tips of his paws his eyes shined bright. This would be the day, the day for him. He couldn't help his self from having a huge smile on his face. He looked up at Lightstar, Owlkit wished that he would smile once, that would mean the world to him. His pelt was smooth and clean. Soon he would be Owlpaw of RiverClan and go to his first Gathering! He gave a high-pitched giggle as cats got out of their dens.

Rivertail licked his muzzle, and swallowed the last bit of fish, then trotted toward Riverflame, he glanced around for Mistpaw, but she wasn't among the other cats. He shrugged, then sat next to Riverflame, "Riverflame, how are you?" Rivertail laid his tail neatly around his paws.

Musefaith had taken in Milkpoppy's kits. They weren't ready for apprenticeship yet, she'd told them. In a moon or so, they could be apprentices.

Creamtail nearly toppled over her paws at Owlkit's interests, "well, we're going to be counting on you"she smiled, "the real credit goes to Dawnlight"

Tinyfang took her spot next to Lightstar. She stood with dignity for the clan. Her paws tingled, maybe with excitement, for she did not know what her dear leader was going to say. Riverclan had changed drastically in he last few moons, but they were still a proud clan. Besides, most of the change brought to the clan were for the better.

Dawnlight padded over to her soon-to-be apprentice. Owlkit reminded her of kits she had seen in Windclan when the Deadplains attacked. A cold feeling shot through her body, was Owlkit Windclan? Her sister Waspwing always talked about the kits, often wishing she had some of her own but her duty was to Riverclan. She licked ruffled fur on her chest. Today was a special day for Owlkit. He would serve his clan well.
She smiled at Creamtail and then at Owlkit. "Good I'm young and can handle this bundle of fur here." she flicked her tail at Owlkit when she talked to Creamtail. She gave a meow of laughter and flicked her tail across Owlkits flank. "I'm glad you'll be my apprentice." she mewed happly and waited for Lightstar to call Owlkit forth.
Riddlekit stepped out of the nursy. Musefaith had told her that in a few moons she would be an apprentice. She spoted Riverflame and flicked her tail at Musefaith in farewell and dashed over to Riverflame. "Hi, Riverflame!" she mewed happly.

Owlkit was getting board, this wasn't that fun talking. He looked around not hearing anything Creamtail was saying. He saw a butterfly flying some way away, he rushed over to it, his eyes wide and didn't move. He waited. At the perfect time he leaped into the air and twisted over in mid-air. His back claw slashed the butterfly in half. He fell to the ground landing on all feet. He watched as the butterfly parts fell to the ground right in front of Lightstar.
"Hee...I'll go...oh look!" He yelled running away.

Lightstar flicked his tail for silence, before beckoning the young warrior foreward and landing his intense gaze on the tom. His white fur was almost blinding as it reflected light, but the tom took no notice as he began to speak.
"This is a proud day for RiverClan, by naming apprentices we show RiverClan will survive and remain strong. Owlkit, from now on until you receive your warrior name you will be known as Owlpaw. Dawnlight will train you in the ways of healing an the ways of StarClan, our warrior ancestors." He didn't pause to breath once during his speech, and gave a deep exhale when he was finished. Lightstar's eyes fell on the two once more, before he decided that it would be all he needed to relay to the Clan at the moment. He glanced at Tinyfang and nodded. |

Owlpaw couldn't believe his ears, he was going to go out to the forest again, he missed it very much.
"Thank you! Thank you! And thank you some more!" yelled Owlpaw skipping away singing "I'm an apprentice, I'm an apprentice!"

Dawnlight looked after Owlpaw. "Owlpaw!" she called back to him. "We've got to start your training." she mewed. A laugh was waiting to reach, she would let it go. So she giggled.
