ebonypaw .A fierce wind brushed against the she-cat's fluffy, black fur as she stepped out of the den. She shuddered as the icy feeling touched her skin. Ebonypaw's lime eyes searched the clearing. There were a few cats out and about and it was snowing. The ivory balls of white landed on her black fur, making her look like a black and white cat. She shook her coat as she bounded out into the clearing and sat down. It was nice to get out of the apprentice den once in a while, even if there was snow. Her body was very thin, but she didn't feel the need to eat until everyone else ate first. Will this ever end? she thought as gave her coat another shake. Maybe she should go hunting. Later. Her legs were stiff from sleeping in the same position all night. Ebonypaw yawned and looked around the clearing again.

Longfeather sat erect outside the warrior's den, watching somberly as snow spiraled down from the gray heavens. He blinked slowly and brought his head back down to earth as his pelt continued to become laden with snow. It was a chilly day, and he didn't want to have to go to the trouble of going to the river not to catch a single thing. "Such a boring game," he pouted, lashing his tail like a kit. It was these times that Longfeather wished he had stumbled upon ThunderClan instead. Their territory was filled with heights, and it looked like a good place to carry out his studies and games. Sighing, he gracefully got to his paws and circled himself, pondering what to do to amuse himself. Pausing, his ears twitched as he vaguely noticed Ebonypaw.

Ebonypaw .Another bone-chilling breeze flew through the clearing. Ebonypaw shivered and got to her paws she hated this cold, snowy weather. She missed the sun on her coat, plunging in the river, fishing, hunting, and just the warmth everywhere. Pretty soon the clearing was empty. The ebony she-cat sighed of boredom and glanced around the clearing. Her lime eyes spotted Longfeather appear out of the warriors den. "Longfeather!" she called as she bounded over to the warrior. "What's up?" she asked as she sat down in front of him.

Longfeather set his copper eyes upon the apprentice, brighter than usual with an unrecognizable emotion. "Hello," he meowed softly, his voice rich despite the taxing tolls of cough and cold. "I was just... enjoying the snow," he continued casually, pricking his ears and whiskers forward to emphasize the truth of his words. The dark sand-colored tom did find something different about the snow. Especially how you could curl up in it and never uncurl again. He tilted his head to the side and mewed, "How is it faring with you, young Ebonypaw?" His tapered tail tip twitched and his spine trembled to dispatch some of the snow that was building up on him.

Ebonypaw .The black she-cat nodded as she turned her head and focused her lime eyes on a branch of a bush tremble in the wind. Her fluffy tail wrapped neatly around her paws as she turned back to the warrior. "Pretty good. I was going to go hunting later, try and find something..." she shrugged as she spoke. Her white whiskers twitched as snow landed on them. She couldn't wait 'til New-Leaf. This harsh, cold Leaf-Bare was bone-chilling, literally.

"That's good to hear," Longfeather meowed, slowly beginning to crawl back into his mental shell. He fought it for a moment to inquire, "I could go with you later. Better to eat and get our strengths up so we're healthy for New-leaf, no?" His soft voice sounded strong in the silence of the snowfall. Another thing that was worth studying; how the snow always silenced life. In his mind, Longfeather pondered whether leaf-bare was the ruler of nature; it was controlling and demanding after all. He waded in his own dark thoughts for a moment before clicking back out. He didn't want to slowly slip away into his waters quite yet.

Ebonypaw .The fluffy, black apprentice nodded as she stared at the patterns in the snow from warriors walking to and fro the den, her lime eyes were wide with interest. She shook her head and her fur grew hot with embarrassment. I hope he didn't see that... Ebonypaw usually finds something that isn't that interesting to others, but to her it was really interesting. "Yeah, that'd be fun!" she answered his offering, pretending nothing happened. Ebonypaw hadn't been on a hunting patrol with a warrior in a while. Maybe they'd find enough stuff for the whole clan to eat tonight! The ebony she-cat purred at the thought of her whole clan gathered around her and Longfeather thanking them for that! Imagine!

"It would!" Longfeather replied pleasantly, his eyes closed as he laughed lightly. He blinked them open again and shivered from the cold. He took no notice of what Ebonypaw was doing, for he was transfixed with a stray bird flying high above them. His eyes keen on the creature, he watched it disappear into the gray of the day. Slightly depressed by its leave, he curled his tail over his paws neatly and looked again at the apprentice. "Come get me whenever you wish," he mewed softly, "I'll be here." He turned his head and looked at the elder's den. "Or there," he mewed, half to himself and half to Ebonypaw.

Smallclaw bounded into the central clearing, happy and bouncy as ever. The snow, although it did bring death, was sparkling and beautiful. The tawny tom almost welcomed it on his fur... until it stung like a crimson thorn. He stretched, unsheathing his scrawny hooked claws, and enjoyed the moment. Total peace. Turning his gaze to the left, he saw the lithe shape of Longfeather and the fuzzy apprentice beside him, Ebonypaw.
"Hey, greetings Ebonypaw!" Smallclaw purred. Looking to his left again he noticed Longfeather. The copper tom had always scared Smallclaw... he's always so distant. "Hello... Longfeather." Smallclaw piped.

Longfeather swiveled his ears toward Smallclaw, after he had gingerly turned his head in the warrior's direction. Eyes wide and intellectual like an owl's, he meowed calmly, "... Hello, Smallclaw. Lovely to see you." Longfeather held slight disdain for the young tom, partially because he was suspicious that he didn't like him, but after all, the sand-colored Abyssinian was wretched at judging other cats' feelings and behavior.

Nodding in response to Longfeather's awkward stare, the small tom proceeded to continue.
"So... have you made any good catches today?" Smallclaw mewed quietly. He was always so shy when he was communicating with Longfeather. He could never get his words right.

"No, I have not," Longfeather meowed softly, his whiskers and ears pricked forward slightly with curiosity. "We," the tom vaguely indicated Ebonypaw, "were going to go hunt and see if we could though." It was beyond Longfeather's social skills to ask if Smallclaw wanted to come along, since the sand-colored tom was oblivious to such things. He twitched his tapered tail and trembled in the cold. He wanted to go back into the warrior's den, but he knew that wouldn't be fun, and his Clan mates would share a few words with him if he did. This game isn't fair, he thought.

Smallclaw shrugged, amber eyes as gleeful as ever. "Oh... well alright. Good hunting. May StarClan light your path." The need for a joke in his dialogue was so big. Smallclaw waved his tail, and trotted off.
