Cookie was starving. She had forgotten where she was, and she didn't care. She saw the river. Was she already in RiverClan territory? She ducked her head to drink. She saw a flash of silver. She snapped the fish up with her paws and snapped its neck. She felt a lot of remorse as she ate. Prey had been driven off where she was by rowdy Twolegs. They had even tried to grab at her, yelling about "the pound." She felt very, very guilty as she licked her whiskers.

Mistpaw was trotting around the river, looking for a frog, to try her luck again, when she saw a cat, up ahead, drinking, and eating a fish. She pointed her head up and sniffed the air, a loner! She growled, and ran for the intruder yelling, "There is a loner in our territory!" She ran over to the cat and skidded to a stop, "Who are you!?" She growled looking at the cat, ready to run it off her territory.

Cookie looked up. "I'm Cookie. I was temporarily chased off of my territory. I'm gonna win it back, don't worry. I'm really, really sorry about the fish. I haven't eaten in days! And I saw it going by I couldn't help it!" She ducked her head. "I'll leave."

Mistpaw glared at the cat, feeling a little bad, "No! Your not leaving! Your going to talk to our leader, about stealing our food. Just because you were chased off doesn't mean you take our food." Mistpaw trotted up to the intruder, and shoved her toward camp, then she felt some pity, "I'm sorry. I don't like to be mean, it's just, this is what I have to do. And maybe you can stay with us. If you talk to our leader." She pushed the cat again.

Riverflame heard noise coming from her left. With a sigh, she turned, dropping her fish. She could get it when she was done. "Mistpaw, what is going on?" she asked in a tired voice, trying to make sense of the shouting from only moments ago. "Cookie? I remember you! I haven't seen you since I was only an apprentice!" The she-cat purred as she recognised her old friend. Though she was a loner, Riverflame remembered her being offered a place in RiverClan. But the she-cat had refused, preferring her own life. "Mistpaw, it's alright. Cookie's a friend of RiverClan's. She was offered a place here, several moons ago, if I remember correctly...? But what are you doing here?" she asked, turning to the loner. "And why are you stealing prey? You know of our laws; so why are you on our territory?" Her voice wasn't accusing, but she had to know before she let her go. It would be wrong to let the loner free without understanding why she was taking prey in the first place.

Cookie nodded. "Hi Riverpaw! Or is it River-whatsit now?" She sat, and jerked her head toward the Twolegplace. "Them Twolegs chased off all the prey and hollered at me and chased me off. They was talkin' bout someplace called the pound." she meowed. "After three days of runnin' 'round with no food or sleep, I got kinda loopy. So I ate a fish." she meowed. "An' bein' me, I got quite guilty after comin' to my senses." She ducked her head a little.

Riverflame's eyes gleamed in understanding. "I'm sure RiverClan would understand," she mewed, nodding. "But even so, Mistpaw, don't be telling some of the... less understanding warriors." Then, she turned back to Cookie. "I'm Riverflame now," she laughed. "And unless you finally decided to join a Clan, you're still just Cookie." And since she'd just said she was run out of her territory for the time being, she couldn't have joined one.

"Riverflame? That's what you call an oxymoron." she meowed, laughing. "It's pretty, though. An' yes, I'm still just Cookie." Cookie didn't like the other apprentice, Mistpaw, all that much. She supposed the next generation didn't know her, even though she was famous with the now-warriors of most of the Clans. "If I had joined a clan, Riverflame, then I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you like I am now. At least that's what I think."
Cookie didn't like how the Clans squabbled. She wished they could all get along. She got along with almost every cat she met, but that was just her.

Mistpaw looked at the two cats talking like they had known eachother for a long time, she was confused, this was a loner, who was stealing prey, why wasn't she being run off of the territory, Mistpaw looked at Riverflame, "What are we going to go with this..Cookie? She took our food, so shouldn't she be in a little bit of trouble, at least?" Mistpaw looked at the intruder again, and growled. Mistpaw had always been taught the chase off any other cat that was not from their clan, off of the territory.

Riverflame laughed, and nodded. "Well, right," she admitted, shrugging. "And in that case, we'd have to run you off RiverClan territory." She glanced down to Mistpaw, then sighed. She was right, as far as stealing. It was punishable, but surely Cookie wouldn't do such a thing unless it was nessicary...? "Mistpaw, I agree with you. But the river is plentiful this season, so, as I said before, we just won't tell about this. Right? Cookie is a friend of RiverClan, so as long as she doesn't do this again, she's fine." she meowed, shrugging.

Mistpaw stared at Riverflame, shocked, "But, but....." She glanced at the loner. She didn't understand. Just because she was a friend didn't mean they could let her go, just like that. Could they? Mistpaw looked at Riverflame, "Are you sure?" She was only an apprentice, and was very confused.

Cookie nodded. "Aye. I'll go back to my territory and reclaim it." She looked at Mistpaw. "And I'll go in a hurry, if that gives you peace of mind, kiddo."

Mistpaw looked at the loner, shocked, "I'm only an apprentcie, I don't have the right to tell you to get off our territory. But, Riverflame does." Mistpaw looked up at her, wondering what she was going to do, she had already surprised her once today.

Cookie silently reprimanded herself for scaring the apprentice. When she had outbursts of negative emotions it hurt other cats around her, and she didn't like hurting really anybody. "I'm sorry..." she mewed softly to the younger cat.

"My name is Cookie." she meowed. "I am a loner, allied to the Clans."
She looked at the pretty apprentice. "What's YOUR name?" she said, licking her shoulder.
