Falconheart bounded through the open moor. Running fast made her feel free. She wondered slightly what the Dead Plains cats were up to. No, she wasn't really thinking of defecting. She wouldn't let her legacy be stained by that sort of tale. Her copper eyes gleamed in the sunlight, the wind teasing her brown fur. Her black nose twitched, and she stopped. When she was in the moors, everything about her was different. Her usually rather dull coat glistened, her eyes danced with a graceful fire.

The tom cat dashed, full speed, across the earth. His eyes intense and focused, and it was nearly too late when he called, "Watch out!" He crashed into the ground, and above a small bird glided overhead and disappeared. "Rats!" Within moments he sunk into the heather, nearly invisible, untouched by sun. However, Runningpaw had already made his prescence clear. "Hello, there, Falconheart!" He wasn't supposed to be out of camp during the day, but the apprentice couldn't resist chasing after the bird when he had been so close to it. He licked his burning pelt, even a few seconds in the sun and he was already starting to turn red. Joy.

Falconheart's ears pricked up when she saw the apprentices emerging from every direction. "Well! I'm surrounded. And Runningpaw, aren't you supposed to be back at camp?" she meowed.
The brown she-cat was in a very good mood. Her ears flicked to catch the sound of something else rustling in the heather. She pounced on the rabbit and triumphantly killed it with a blow from her brown paw. Didn't even have to chase it!!

Ears flattened, he hated to be reminded of his condition, but nodded simply because Falconheart was right. He had to get out of the sun soon, but for now the apprentice wanted to enjoy a little bit of time for himself out in the open. Grasses rustled between each step as Runningpaw mad his way over to Falconheart without lifting his head. "Well... I can't really...um..." He stopped his meowing, unable to think of what to say. His tail curled back and forth, feeling almost nervous, he didn't want to get in trouble but he also didn't want to have to wait until the sun fell to be able to train. Besides, he hadn't had a new mentor picked out yet. Who could he wake up in the middle of the night to train him? It would be rude. He hunched his shoulders and flattened his ears against his head. "I guess I'll go..." The tom meowed reluctantly.

"hey! do you want to train with me? after dark, of course." snowleaf mewed to runningpaw. " you don't have a mentor yet, right? we could practice some fighting moves. I'm always restless at night."

The tom paused, and he flushed slightly. "Um... sure... th-thanks." Why it was in his nature to disagree with those with similar personalities to himself he'd never know, but her kindness barely touched his heart. Cynical and insensitive, he decided, that was how he was. Keeping low to the ground he continued to make his way away from the group, ears flattened, head down, and belly brushing against the earth. His blood red eyes fixed on the ground, and he thought to himself. If he hadn't been born this way he would want to have blue eyes, the same color as the sky, and a pelt warm brown like the moor in sunlight. They were only wishes, however, for Runningpaw knew that what he had been born as was irreversible. Born albino, always albino.
