The Laws of Role-Playing
1.1 Proper Spelling and Grammar.
In order to bring out the best of a Role-Playing community, The majority of the player-base should be well educated in literature and grammatical spelling. If you have trouble with Grammar or spelling there are a few solutions to this problem.
Grammar Solutions:
1. Ask for help. Ask a member of your family, or a friend to help you review your writing style to see if it is understandable. Though I know some of us are nervous about our Role-Playing hobbies and prefer to keep it hush-hush so ask a Moderator, Administrator or another player you consider a close friend.
2. Help Yourself. Read your post to yourself and see if it makes sense, if not keep reading aloud until it does. This will greatly help yourself, trust me I use it all the time.
Spelling Solutions:
1. Use a dictionary. Simply have a dictionary by your desk for reference.
2. Mozilla Firefox. For those of you who don't use the browser it has a spell checker built in so if you misspell a word it places a red underline beneath it. You can then right-click the word and look at the spelling solutions; click the one your looking for.
1.2 Minimal Posting
Another thing The First Life struggles with is, Minimal posting. In all honesty no one really gets any joy out of taking their time to post a paragraph or two of a set-up for an RP, just to be retaliated with a one-two-liner from another player. Be sure to use your brain people. For example; If someone has posted a cat trespassing on another clans territory, Here is a do and don't.
EXAMPLE:
DONT "Bob walks up to the trespasser. "What are you doing here!?"
DO "Bob slowly creeps through the clans territory; The scent of a unwanted trespasser flowing through his nostrils. The tom lets a low growl rumble in the pit of his gut as he leaps through the bushes at the enemy feline and hisses "You! What are you doing here!?"
See, If you include detail it makes your post much more interesting and exciting. In other words, it's fun to read. Not boring and lame. Now I know some people arn't as creative as others but that doesn't mean you can't add detail, Try your best!
1.3 God-Modding
For those of you who don't know what God-Modding is, It is the act of acting invincible. Please note every cat in Warriors: The First Life is a mortal. It isn't god-like in anyway, Unless it is with StarClan. You CAN NOT God-Mod. This includes God-Attacking.
EXAMPLE:
DONT "Bob lunges at Fred, Slicing the cats across the face, splitting his maw and causing massive damage."
DO "Bob jumps towards Fred with his claws out, a blow aimed at Fred's maw. The attack is performed with great accuracy hoping to make the blow."
God-Defending
EXAMPLE:
DONT "Fred jumps away from the blow, again and again and again with amazing speed. He is untouchable."
DO "Fred takes the blow full-force, the claw slicing his maw causing him to hiss with fury as he launchs a counter-strike against Bob."
NOTE: Your character doesn't have to take every hit yet he isn't able to dodge every single one either.
Other-Player Control
You are not allowed to role-play another players character. You CANNOT control what the other players cat does, or says, that is COMPLETELY up to that player.
2.1 Death
Cat deaths are not a thing to be taken lightly. Therefore from here on out, Any Cat deaths are to be handled in two different ways.
Way 1: Pre-Arranged RP
If the owner of the cat and the cats murder, have talked OOCly about the matter BEFORE the felines demise it can be carried out as arranged by the two players.
Way 2: Judged Death-Duel
This method is very popular among MUD's. The two people who wish to have their cats fight to the death arrange a duel. This duel is to be judged by THREE other players. One cat will have the first attack, there will be a set amount of post. For example, if their are seven posts. Player one will post first attack, and the duel will go on until the first players gets last defense. After these seven post the judges will review the duel and decide on a winner. One of the judges will announce the winner and then the victor can post their final post of finishing off the loser.
NOTE: Of course if a player wishes to have one of their cats commit suicide that is still an option and up to the player themselves completely.
NOTE: NO PLAYER CAN KILL ANOTHER PLAYERS CAT WITHOUT THEM AGREEING TO A DEATH DUEL.
2.2 Ignoring Players
If you are in the middle of an RP with someone and another player makes one of their cats enter the picture. You are -NOT- allowed to completely ignore that players cat you must acknowledge its presence, I'm not saying it has to be a long thought out post, your cat could simply push them away but you cannot deny that that players cat is there.
Though ig a character has annoyed you OOCly you are more than welcome to ignore that person OOCly, DO NOT MIX OOC WITH IC!
----------------------------
This is the end of Role-Playing 101 This rulebook can and will be updated as time goes on. All players of Warriors: The First life are to read and abide by these rules or face heavy consequences.
Final Note; OOC stands for "Out-Of-Character" IC stands for "In-Character".
