Smokefang dipped his head, acknowladging Cloudwhisker's words. "When we get back to camp I'll show it to her. I'm sure it's nothing though." His eyes glittered with amusement at her expression after she spoke the second time. It was a mixture of confusion, surprise, and the slightest tinge of embarassment. But why? He thought over her words curiously, but couldn't put his paw on what made her act like that. "What do you mean?" he asked, his eyes showing that he wasn't prying, he was just curious.

Cloudwhisker was taken back at his question. So he had seen the awkwardness of her words, too.
"I.. .. I just meant that-" she was cut off but a loud, familiar hiss.
"The adder!" she hissed to Smokefang.
One part of her was relieved that she didn't have to explain to the gray warrior what she meant. But, the other part of her was urging to kill that annoying adder.
The white warrior leaped toward the adder and raked her claws along it's sides. She wasn't going to let it get away alive this time.

Smokefang spun, back arched, as he launched himself at the large snake. It's head recoiled from Cloudwhisker's attack, and hit his side with a force that drove him back about a fox-length. "Foxdung!" he spat, and threw himself back at it. His foreleg hurt, but not so much that it was broken. Probably just a few bruises. The tom sliced his claws at the adder's head, slicing the skin but not killing it. It was too tough. After a moment of clawing uselessly, Smokefang jumped back and bit the adder's tail. He dug his claws in it, as deep as he could manage, drawing blood. The snake's head whirled around to attack, and Smokefang leaped away easily. The snake's jaws clamped down on it's own tail. "Mouse-brain," Smokefang taunted, as if he were an apprentice again. The snake recoiled, hissing in what could have been either pain or frustration.

Cloudwhisker couldn't help, but smile.
The she-cat took advantage of the adder's current position and sunk her teeth into it's neck. Her teeth ached from the thick skin and it's foul taste filled her mouth.
She wasn't going to let go of it until it's live was gone. The adder opened it's mouth and attempted to turn to bite her, but she had too tight of a grip.
Instead, it used the rest of it's body. The adder's body hit Cloudwhisker's feet. The force of the blow knocked her over. She lost her grip of the snake's neck.
Before she knew it, the adder was slithering toward her to get revenge. Oh StarClan, let this be quick! she prayed. If she was going to die, then she didn't want it to last forever.

Smokefang watched as the adder made it's way to try and throw Cloudwhisker off. The mouse-brain doesn't know- His thoughts broke off as Cloudwhisker was thrown to the side. The snake made it's way towards her. Oh, StarClan, no! he thought, and his eyes widened as he raced towards it, using every bit of energy and speed he had left. His teeth sank into it's neck, and he dug his claws in for an extra hold. Distracted, the adder thrashed, trying to throw the tom off. It's head jerked side to side, and it's tail left marks in the dirt, creating a cloud of dust. Eventually, it's struggles grew faint, but still strong enough to notice. "It's dying, I hope," he hissed, and jumped off. He spat blood out of his mouth, and winced as he placed his forepaw on the ground. Between the torn pad and the blow from the snake, it would take a while to regain his full ability. "Better it than you."

Cloudwhisker got back to her paws. Her legs bleeding from the adder's blow.
As the life slowly went out of the creature, she couldn't help but prod at it. Hatred shown in it's eyes. It's body went limp.
"Thank you, you.. ... You saved my life." she mewed to Smokefang.

Smokefang watched as the snake's life faded, and then he turned to Cloudwhisker. Her legs were bleeding. With a shrug, Smokefang said, "Well, I couldn't just let it kill you." before padding over and looking at her injuries. "We should both see Dappleclaw," he meowed, glancing back up to meet her eyes. "You especially."

Cloudwhisker looked at her forelegs. Her white fur was crimson red with blood. Then she looked back at Smokefang.
"I don't think they are that deep. I'll be fine in the meanwhile." she mewed.
The usually white she-cat raised one of her forelegs and licked the blood as best she could. The gash wasn't as deep as Smokefang had made it sound.

Smokefang shook his head. "You should still see her," he insited. "Can you walk?" The tom sat and inspected his own paw again, making sure it hadn't started bleeding again. Then he proceeded to look at his leg, making sure nothing was broken. After a few tests of placing it on the ground to be sure he would be okay walking, he stood. "Do you want to head to camp, or stay here for a while to rest? That was an unexpected fight, you have to admit."

Cloudwhisker thought for a moment about her legs. "I'm fine, nothings broken." she mewed.
"I think we should get back to camp. I don't want to stick around for another adder." she meowed. She was a little dazed from the attack.
The warrior slowly stood up. She felt a pang of pain. Cloudwhisker flinched from it. "Come on, what are you waiting for?" she mewed through the pain.

Smokefang watched as she stood up, a worried expression on his face. "Are you sure?" he meowed, padding next to her to help her walk. He leaned against her slightly so that he would be able to tell if she were to start falling. "We could rest in the forest in general, just get away from this place. I agree, I don't want to see another adder. One is enough for a lifetime. But I still think you should rest. Even if nothing's broken, I don't want you hurting yourself more."

Cloudwhisker let out a sigh.
"I suppose." she mewed, giving in more easily than normally. Smokefang was just that kind of cat that you don't exactly get into a fight with.
The she-cat padded on with Smokefang by her side. It just felt... .... natural.

Smokefang padded along, helping Cloudwhisker walk. It seemed both odd, because he wasn't used to helping cats walk, but at the same time it felt natural. It seemed normal to help her. "Cloudwhisker, why did you come to Snakerocks?" he asked quietly, his yellowish eyes shining with curiousity. "I never had time to ask."

Cloudwhisker wanted to make something up, but just couldn't now.
"I don't really know. My paws just took me there. It was just something I had no control over." she mewed. Though, it felt strange saying it aloud, but that was the truth.
The she-cat hoped that Smokefang wouldn't think she was completely mouse brained for saying such a thing.

Smokefang thought over the she-cat's reply. He'd never heard anything like it; but surely she had to be telling the truth. No cat could just make something like that up. "Well, your paws are mouse-brained," he chuckled, eyes lighting up with amusement. "It seems you walked in right on time to be that adder's meal. You fought well, by the way. I'm sure most cats, warriors or not, would have run away, y'know, saved themselves. Why'd you stay and fight?" The tom knew he was asking a bunch of mouse-brained questions, but he couldn't help it. He had to know.

"Thank.. .. you?" Cloudwhisker hesitantly replied to one of Smokefang's many comments.
"Well, I stayed because... .. Well because I would of regretted it my entire life if I left you there alone to die." she nervously mewed.
"This seems like a good place to stop." she mewed. Her paws coming to a halt.
Her tail had been dragging along the ground and now the rest of her body joined it as she laid down.

Smokefang nodded, again thinking over her reply. "Sure," he agreed, and padded a few steps away before turning to look over his shoulder. "Cloudwhisker, I'll be right back. I buried my prey not far from here, I'm just going to grab it so I don't forget." The tom padded away a few steps, then paused. He'd buried the robin underneath that tree, he remembered. And the mice were buried by that section of undergrowth.
Smokefang unburied the bird, and carried it to the place where his mice were left. After unburying everything, he padded back to the white she-cat. "Are you alright?" he asked, dropping the small animals for a moment to rebury them. The gray tom dug a shallow hole just less than a fox-length away from them, and placed everything inside before padding back over. He sat down beside Cloudwhisker, and sighed. "That's almost the same thing that went through my mind when the adder attacked you. I couldn't just let you die; even if I ran, I would have come back for you." he meowed, half to himself.

"Yes, I'm fine." she insisted as Smokefang buried his prey.
As Smokefang explained his reasoning, the she-cat was in awe. Some cat would just let her die from argues they have had in the past, but not Smokefang. He seemed.. .. Different, like he never held a grudge.
"Really? Y-You would of come back for me?" she mewed. Blue and yellow were locked, but not in war.

Smokefang nodded. "Of course," he meowed. "I've had enough death in my life. But either way, any cat that would leave you to die from an adder is a complete and utter mouse-brain. You're too important to the Clan... and a few cats in it." he added. The tom blinked, then ducked his head to check his paw. It was raw, but already healing. Well, as much as a torn pad could heal within that amount of time.

Cloudwhisker thought this over for a moment, but did quite get it.
The she-cat saw how he had ducked away after he added and a few cats in it.
"What do you mean by important to a few cats in it?" she mewed. He wasn't going to change the subject of the matter either, when she really wanted to know something, she didn't stop until she knew it.
