Smokefang paused, trying to make it seem like he didn't hear her. But he knew that he had to answer, whether or not he knew how. "Well," he meowed hesitantly. "When I saw you about to be killed by the adder, I realized how... how special you are. You're an important part of the Clan, you're a strong fighter and an amazing hunter. I mean... I don't know how to explain, something just tells me you're special, for lack of a better term." The tom lowered his head. He sounded like a complete mouse-brain! Nice going, Smokefang, he thought angrily. Cloudwhisker was a good friend, and now you're probably scaring her away...

Cloudwhisker was taken back at this. And even more confused.
"Smokefang, what are you trying to say?" she mewed.
It seemed like there was something, something big that Smokefang wasn't telling her. She had been friends with him for a while and he never seemed so..... there was really no word that came to mind when she tried to describe his. He just seemed 'off' from his usual personally. She tried to think of some explanation, but... ... Nothing really came to mind.

Smokefang sighed heavily. If he just dropped it, he knew she wouldn't let him leave without telling her. And even if she did, it would gnaw at him until he finally told her. So he may as well get it over with now. "Cloudwhisker, I couldn't let the adder hurt you seriously in any way. This," he meowed, flicking his tail towards her legs. "was partially my fault. But that's not the point. The point is, I couldn't let that mouse-brained piece of foxdung kill you, because... well, because I'd regret it for the rest of my life. I've never met any cat like you, Cloudwhisker. Like I just said, you're a great fighter, an amazing hunter, and still the most beautiful cat in the forest." In the back of his mind, something was screaming for him to shut up and lie, to make something up to make her drop the subject. But he ignored it.

"My legs will heal. But, Smokefang. That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life." Cloudwhisker mewed.
"And, I think that you are the most cunning and kindest cat I've ever met. And you're most certainly the sweetest cat that has ever lived." she mewed.
As she poured out those feelings that have been collecting for moons as she has gotten to know Smokefang, there was absolute no regret. Smokefang was all these things, and more.

Smokefang, who had ducked his head, waiting for Cloudwhisker to scoff and head back to camp, glanced back up. "Really?" he meowed. His yellow eyes gleamed with a mixture of surprise and happiness. "I hope you aren't hurt too badly." he added in an attempt to change the subject. He didn't know for sure if she felt as awkward as he did. But behind the awkwardness of telling one of his friends that he thought of her as more than a friend, there was an unconcealed joy. Cloudwhisker didn't think he was a mouse-brain after all!
(( Lol. Had to use this as a chance to make him sound like a moron. x3 ))

"Yes, of course. You should know that I don't really lie about things I truly believe in, Smokefang. And, I'm really fine. I think the bleeding has stopped by now." Cloudwhisker mewed.
Right here, right now the only thing she would have to worry about was time.... And her legs getting infected, of course!

Smokefang paused, and then glanced back to the Snakerocks. And to think, this all started by almost being killed by an adder, he thought. Otherwise I don't think I would have ever told her. The tom looked back to Cloudwhisker and laid down a few mouse-lengths away. It gave him a chance to rest his paw. "Should we be heading back to camp soon? I'd like to stay for a while longer, if you want to head back...?" he asked.

"It doesn't really matter to me... ..." Cloudwhisker mewed.
She wondered if he was trying to change the subject, but she didn't say anything about it. Today had started out well.. .. deadly, and now.... ... Now things seemed like the best they had been in a long time.

Smokefang nodded, and sighed. The tom rested his head on his forepaws for a moment, then lifted it back up to meet Cloudwhisker's eyes. "I always thought you were pretty, but I figured you'd like another cat. I mean, I don't think any she-cat as ever actually liked me. But then again, I've never actually liked any other cats anyway. So where does that leave us?" he asked.

Cloudwhisker didn't even have to think for a heartbeat about what she said and did next.
"That leaves us right here, you and me." she purred. The she-cat licked his head affectionately.
It just felt so natural to be that way with him, like.. .. ... ... Like they were meant to be.

Smokefang purred in response, and drew his tongue over Cloudwhisker's ear. It seemed normal for him to do so, like he was supposed to. The tom purred, and rubbed his head against her shoulder playfully. "Well, I'm glad we're right here. We're clearly not at camp." he teased, eyes sparkling mischieviously.

"It seems like we're anywhere but." Cloudwhisker mewed in response. It didn't matter where they were at this point. It seemed like all that mattered was they were there together. And she didn't want anything to change.
This was an extremely unintended day. In the morning, she had thought about if she was suppose to go on the dawn patrol. Wondering if she would go hunting with her friends. But, instead she had stayed around the camp that morning, sharing tongues with a few Clanmates. She had been on a small, solo hunt and caught two mice. She had taken them back to camp, to find nothing to do, then she found herself being taken to Snakerocks without even thinking. She had nearly encountered death, twice, and had realized that Smokefang meant much more to her than just a friend.
Some cats might call that an odd day, but no, she called it the perfect day.

Smokefang's tail curled and uncurled beside him. Today had turned out better than he could have ever imagined; he'd caught plenty of prey for his Clan, survived an adder attack- twice -and finally realized how special Cloudwhisker was to him after so many moons. The sun had begun to go down in the sky from when he had first entered Snakerocks, and he sighed. But it hadn't been very long since he had been with Cloudwhisker, it seemed. But time tended to go by quickly around the she-cat.

Cloudwhisker looked at the sky.
"It looks like it's getting late." she mewed. Though, she didn't want to leave. Time flew by like a bird across the sky today.

Smokefang nodded. "I was just thinking the same thing," he sighed. "Should we head back to camp?" As the tom waited for the white she-cat's reply, he butted her shoulder playfully, purring.

Cloudwhisker giggled, then let out a sigh.
"I suppose." she muttered. But, in truth it seemed like the day had just started, even if you call starting a day facing death and finding the oh-so-sweet truth. Then, yes, the day had jsut started in her mind.

Smokefang nodded and stood. His foreleg ached, but it felt better; it was merely stiff by now. "Can you walk?" he asked, stretching. "I'm not to sure about myself. Staying on the ground that long with a sore leg tends to make it difficult to walk for long." The tom nuzzled Cloudwhisker for a moment, then sat. He drew his tongue over his paw, making sure it hadn't started bleeding while they were resting.

"I should be able to manage." Cloudwhisker mewed, returning Smokefang's nuzzle. She slowly stood up, at first a little shaky. That adder had really left it's mark. The she-cat took a while, but she was eventually steady. Though, nothing could stay that way for too long.
The white she-cat looked at her legs, they were coated with dry blood. It didn't seem like anything was broken. She would get better, with Dappleclaw's help.

Smokefang nodded and his eyes followed hers. The adder had hurt Cloudwhisker, but it had repaid the debt with it's life. Was that so wrong? "Dappleclaw will take care of you when we get back to camp," he meowed, half to himself. "I'll take her place until we get there. No more injuries." He stood and shook himself, putting most of his weight on his good three legs. His foreleg, however, was still slightly sore. He could walk on it enough to help the white she-cat stand though, and he placed his shoulder against her's, trying his best to help her walk to camp.
(( We should post a thread in the medicine cat den called, "Surprise!" x3 "Oh, hello Dappleclaw." Smokefang mewed, leading himself and the blood-coated Cloudwhisker into the medicine cat's den. "Hello, Smokefang, can I-" And with that, the medicine cat fell to the ground, passed out with shock.

Cloudwhisker nodded. They both needed Dappleclaw's attention. "Cone on. At this rate we won't be back before moonhigh!" she mewed playfully, though her body was growing wary.
The bloody white she-cat slowly tried to pad on, but, the attempt was sad. Her legs still shaky, she nearly fell forward.
((OOC: Yes! That would we so funny!))
