Snow drifted gently down to the ground from the dawn sky. Wind chilled the forest, gripping it as if it were an icy claw, waiting until Leaf-Bare to strike. I deserve to be back in ShadowClan right now... The thoughts of Forestsong were as cold as the snow that fell. She pictured hunting in ShadowClan territory, going on patrols, knowing that your clan-mates are there to back you up in battles... These were things that had become so familiar to her, and then suddenly, were ripped from her and she was left to wander.
Why me? Why was this fate forced upon me?
Forestsong longed for the feel of the forest under her paws, the canopy of trees above her head, and the birdsong that filled the forest. She even missed the wet, marshy, ground. Yet, she was exiled from the clan. Her paws sometimes brought her to the ShadowClan border though, where she would often stare off into ShadowClan territory, wishing she had her old home back. However, this, she thought, was an unreachable fantasy as she had been exiled from the clan. Letting out a sigh, Forestsong took on last look at ShadowClan territory before slowly beginning to walk back to the Twoleg farm.
I'm not the one who killed that apprentice moons ago... I just wish I had the evidence to prove it.
Her paw steps were rather slow, as if she was reluctant to leave the border of her old home. I will never be at home if I am ever anywhere away from ShadowClan. Forestsong's paws left prints in the fresh layer of snow, and she shivered from the cold. Yet, she pushed on, still faintly holding on to the hope that she might be able to return to her home someday.

Leaftail! Leaftail padded through the marshy plains of ShadowClan. The snow got in her fur, and she constantly shook with the cold. She felt terrible; so cold... the world was so cold. So was Silentstar, at times... He didn't realise she loved him... Leaftail had tried to talk to him, but he was so intimadating! So scary.... He never really listened to the poor she-cat... She loved him so much.
Through the snow, she smelled a faint scent. It reminded her of someone, but who? She couldn't bring to mind. She padded forwards, and saw a shape in the snow. Who was that? A rogue! It was a rogue who was hunting on ShadowClan territory! How dare they! Leaftail would need to scare them off, maybe fight them off! She wouldn't hesistate to put her life on the line for the good of her clan and her friends.
Stalking forward gently, the she-cat locked on to her target, and then, with a sudden burst of energy, shot through the flurry, and leapt onto the back of the cat, hissing and spitting, claws unsheathed. Then, it hit her. It was a cat who had been exiled from ShadowClan, but it wasn't Milkpoppy! It was Forestsong!
"Forestsong! You know it's suicide to come here!" She hissed loudly, hoping she heard her. Leaftail got off the she-cats back, and shook the snow from her fur. She'd been exiled after 'killing' an apprentice. The clan hadn't any evidence to support the claim she'd killed Echopaw. Leaftail never believed any of it! Why would a cat kill her own clan? It had had to be a rogue of some sort. The way Echopaw's body was mutilated... No clan cat would ever do such a thing...

Shadeclaw bunched his muscles, ready to pounce at a mouse scuffling on a root... Suddenly a quick movement shook the ground, and snow crunched under fast paws. Shadeclaw slightly growled, and rushed forward, but the mouse had already been alerted, and was darting away toward a tree.
He sighed, and stood, shaking snow from his fur. His ears twitched, as voices sounded in the distance. Shadeclaw murmured to himself, "Who is making all that racket? It's hard enough to hunt in this snow."
He flicked his tail, and quietly crawled along the cold ground, following a strange, but familiar scent trail. He weaved around a tree, coming close to the border line, where a strong Shadowclan scent filled the air. Shadeclaw peered around a snow covered bush, and gasped. Leaftail, was facing a cat, and he could sense that there was fear, and a hint of anger lingering in the air.
Shadeclaw narrowed his eyes, focusing on the strange looking cat, and breathing in the air... Forestsong! He unsheathed his claws, and lunged out from behind the bush, sending a flurry of snow into the air. He trotted over to the two cats, "Leaftail! What is going on here? And Forestsong, why are you here?"

A light tapping could be heard as snow crunched beneath the feet of a hefty sounding cat. A few moments passed and suddenly from the Brush on the other side of the boundary was SilentStar. The defiled looking Tom stared defiantly too the trio that had gather and his eyes simply locked to Forestsong.
The leader of Shadow Clan said nothing as he stayed on his clans boundary. Forestsong had not crossed into their territory so why the other cats had went after her not only upset SilentStripe but made him feel a slight pang in his heart.
Opening his mouth, Silentstar's treacherous tongue slipped from his home. The sliced muscle allowing blood to seep to the ground below staining the snow a black and red mixture as he called out to his kin.
"Leaftail. Shadeclaw. Here now."
Staring still on Forestsong the leader didn't flinch as he raised his nose and sniffed the crisp air lightly. A light purr echoing across his chest and rumbling through his vocals.
"You are too close to our boundaries for comfort Traitor. If you return here again I will kill you myself..."
A flick of his black and white tail hinted meaning to his words as he awaited his two clan mates to return to him.

The sight of Silentstar sent a shiver up the spine of Forestsong. Her eyes danced with a mix of fury when she was reminded of the wrongful accusation that ripped everything she had known in her life from her. She stood still for a few moments, and stared at the ShadowClan leader. I should be back in ShadowClan right now. She kept her thoughts to herself.
One day, she hoped, she could return to ShadowClan. The only home she had ever known.
Her eyes filled with longing to return home, and she let out a sigh. "I'm going." Her voice was hard and cold. Forestsong could hardly remember a time when she was happy, but she still desperately clung onto some memories that she had from before she was exiled. Forestsong sighed and continued to walk back to the twoleg farm, the snow crunching under her paws. When she was a few more steps away, she muttered, "But I will return. I will right the wrong that has been done to me, and I will return to my home. I never killed that apprentice." Her voice was little more than a whisper, and her blue eyes were clouded with sadness again.
Occasionally, Forestsong would itch for a fight with the cats that had not believed her and exiled her. Yet, she kept her claws sheathed, as she quite honestly didn't have the energy to fight at the moment.
She glanced back once, her gaze shifting from Silentstar, to Shadeclaw, and then to Leaftail. Most of the ShadowClan cats didn't like me anyway. They were probably glad that I was exiled. I just wish they all knew the truth. It was a rogue that killed that apprentice. She turned back around, and narrowed her eyes. "One day, I will return again. I will tell you all that I didn't kill that apprentice. I just hope you will believe me next time." Her voice was a bit louder this time, and the sadness still rested in her blue eyes.
As Forestsong took a few more steps away from the ShadowClan border, a chilling breeze ruffled her calico pelt. I can't live like this much longer... [/blockquote]

Shadeclaw stared at Forestsong a few more moments, and then sheathed his claws. His eyes flashed, and he murmured, "Until proved otherwise, I think you should stay away. For the safety of the Clan." He narrowed his eyes, and twitched his whiskers, "But, that doesn't mean I think you are guilty."
Shadeclaw flicked his ears, and turned around. A soft wind rolled over the snow covered ground, and danced through the trees. He ran his tail along the side of Leaftail, and meowed, "Come on, let's go." He continued padding past her, until he reached Silentstar.
Then Shadeclaw stopped, and sat with his tail curled around his paws. Another cold breeze chilled the air, and sent a slight shiver up his spine. Forestsong must be cold, all alone. And it's probably difficult to find food... But... Even if she didn't do anything... The Clan needs to be kept safe. Shadeclaw blinked slowly, as a flake of snow landed gently on his nose.

Silentstar chuckled lightly at Forestsong's words. Even though he was an elder before a leader his hearing was still as sharp as blades. "Over my nine lives..." He muttered to himself and watched the feline fade into the snow covered lands.
Not turning his head he spoke to Shadeclaw in a hiss.
"Follow her. When she is alone. Attack. Leave no trace of Shadowclan."
Purring now the leader rose to his feet and turned brushing against Leaftail and whispering for her to follow him back to the camp.
SilentStar knew she was innocent, he always had. But Forestsong was weak and he wouldn't allow mere kit hearts amongst his people. Shadeclaw would teach her a lesson, and if all went to plan when Shadeclaw returned he would be covered in battle wounds a sign of strength.

Shadeclaw gave a quick nod, "I'll make sure she knows not to mess with us. But I will not injure her excessively, for no reason, if she promises she won't bother us. " Flurries of snow kicked up as he ran after Forestsong. He opened his mouth, and kept track of her scent, while following her tracks in the snow.
In the distance, he could see the outline of a cat against the white snow. Keeping his claws sheathed, he sped up, and began to quickly approach her.
Shadeclaw dashed past her, then skidded to a stop a tail length in front of her. The fur on his shoulders bristled the slightest bit as he cleared his throat, and spoke seriously. "Forestsong, you know that you are not allowed to come near Shadowclan. Some feel that you are a threat." He waved his tail in a circle, "I don't if you are to blame, or not. But I don't want harm to come to the Clan. You must find somewhere else to stay, that's not around here." Shadeclaw's eyes glowed, and he stomped his foot on the ground, "Are we clear?"

Snow continued to drift to the ground as Forestsong padded onward. She hissed slightly and turned around, her blue eyes blazing with anger. "You're wasting you're time. I am not just going to sit by why I am wrongfully accused for something, and pushed out of the clan." She unsheathed her claws, prepared to fight. "You can try to hurt me, but you will just be left with scars." Forestsong suddenly itched for a fight, and she hissed again.
I will fight if I have to. I have lived as a loner for too long, when my rightful place is in ShadowClan. Forestsong took a few paw steps closer to Shadeclaw, and narrowed her eyes. "I'm not backing down, and I'm not letting anyone wrongfully punish me anymore. I did not kill that apprentice." Her voice had a vicious edge to it, and the snow crunched under her paws again as she walked closer. "My life has been ripped from me..." She spoke more quietly this time, and her voice trailed off.
"If this has to come to a fight, then I am sorry. But I'm not leaving my home." Forestsong meant what she said. She stared at Shadeclaw, her gaze hard and cold. I know that I'm not trusted by some of the ShadowClan cats... Even when I was in ShadowClan, I know that most cats didn't like me anyway. I might be deaf in one ear, but I still know what they said about me. Apparently I was weak and soft... Anger blazed in her eyes again, and her glare was quite intense. "I didn't kill that apprentice. I am innocent..." Forestsong kept her claws unsheathed, and waited to see if this would turn into a fight. [/blockquote]

Lefatail stood still. "Have mercy Silentstar..." the she-caty aid under her breath. She turned, and watched Forestsong leave. She was sad; why would a ShadowClanner kill another, unless to keep them quiet? It was unfair, but the leader's word was the warrior code. She pricked her ears up slightly as she heard him and Shadeclaw converse.
Attack her? But... "Silentstar, she's leaving, can't you see? If that was me in her place, Id' be sure's hell missing my home if I had been wrongly accused of a henious crime I did not commit! One cannot judge just because she brought Echopaw's body to camp. She may have found him, saw him murdered by a cat, or another animal like a badger." She meowed, looking at him with her soft brown eyes, turned hard and angry at what Silentstar was doing. "Crowstar had mercy on you taking you back, didn't he?"

Silentstar lasped his defiled tongue across his muzzle as he listened to Leaftail whine. The leader shaking his tail in pleasure as Shadeclaw chased after Forestsong. The leader began to open his mouth to speak to Leaftail yet she said something that struck him dead in the heart.
A feral his was given as the massive tom jerked his body to face Leaftail. His words came forth like a boulder as the force behind them would cause any less of a feline to cower in fear.
"You are never to speak to me of my exile nor of CrowStar unless I came to you with it you mangy shrew. You'll never know what it was like in the elder days of ShadowClan. You have no idea what I know about Forestsong and you have no idea why I make the actions I do. So I suggest you keep that tongue of yours in your mouth before you wind up looking like me."
The leaders harsh words seemed to sooth as he moved closer to Leaftail and lashed his tail around hers in a coil. The first sign of affection the leader had ever shown to another cat besides CrowStar and SnowPaw. More words came from the battle hardened cat yet his voice was now as cold and emotionless as ever. Yet it was soft and peaceful.
"You will come with me to the camp. Treat the kits and check on the elders. Once you are finished come to my den and if I deem you ready we shall have a talk I have long awaited."
Turning now the ShadowClan leader left no time for Leaftail to respond as he trotted slowly back towards the camp under the falling sky.

Leaftail flinched slightly as Silentstar scolded her. She stared at the floor in defeat. She shouldn't have said that. She knew her place, and Silentstar's word was law, and there was nothing she could do about it. "Yes Silentstar." She meowed quietly, and stood, following her leader back to camp.

Shadeclaw's fur started to stand more, and his tail lashed. "I do not know that, Forestsong. I don't know what you did, or even if you had anything to do with it." His muscles flexed, ready if she would attack. "But I know that I want this Clan safe, and it will be."
He took a step closer to her, and leaned his head forward, so that their muzzles were almost touching. "I will not hurt you, for unnecessary reasons. But I want you to go live somewhere else, where we will not bother you, and you cannot bother us. That is the easiest solution to this problem."
Shadeclaw flicked his tail, sending snow flakes spiraling through the air. "Now, please leave. And let's try and leave this without a fight." He took a step to the side, and signaled with a paw for Forestsong to keep walking.

All this time, Forestsong had been feeling as if she had been alone in her fight to prove her innocence. She was lonely, and wanted to go back to ShadowClan more than anything. "Do you know how long I've been away? Too long." She let out a hiss, and fluffed out her fur. Forestsong might have been away from ShadowClan, but she still remembered her battle moves. "Now, I do not want this to come to a fight. But, you can't force me to stay away from the home that I belong to." You will probably never know what it feels like to be exiled from your clan. She added in her head.
Keeping her claws unsheathed, she walked closer. There was a certain intensity in her stare, an intensity that reflected on her desperation to return to ShadowClan. Her ragged calico pelt was ruffled as a breeze went by, and she shivered. It's so cold... I don't know how I can live through Leaf-Bare without going back to my home... "So? What's it going to be? Are we going to fight?" She took a few more steps in Shadeclaw's direction, her blue eyes narrowed. [/blockquote]

Shadeclaw raised his voice, "I told you, I'm not going to hurt you. I want you to leave, so I know the Clan is safe, and where you won't be bothered by us. I do not want to fight."
He took a few steps, until her was standing by her side. Then he flicked his tail against her back, "Now, I'll walk with you to the Thunderpath, and make sure you get across." He looked up as the snow continued to drift from the sky, "You should find somewhere to stay, that's out of the snow. And I want to get back to camp, without fighting."
Shadeclaw stretched his muscles, "I don't see why you're being so stubborn." He blinked as flakes of snow landed around his eyes, "And don't come back to our territory, it won't be good for you, or for us. Things would be less complicated, if you went and found somewhere else to live. Even if you are innocent. By fighting us, it's just making things more difficult." He felt a few slight pangs of sadness for her, making her live on her own, in Leaf-Bare. But, he had to take the pre-cautions needed to keep his friends and family safe. Shadeclaw swallowed, "Let's go."

Forestsong hissed. That's easy for him to say. He hadn't been wrongly exiled. She stood where she was, her blue eyes narrowed, her fur fluffed out. "Well, I told you that I don't want to fight, but I'm not leaving." A crunching noise could be heard as Forestsong stepped closer to Shadeclaw, and stared at him, her eyes narrowed. Shadeclaw was bigger than Forestsong was, as she was a rather small cat. Yet, she didn't back down.
Memories were the only thing she had left of her home, and her desperation to return to ShadowClan was quite blatant. Ever since Forestsong had been exiled, she hadn't been able to shake the feeling of being so distant from her clan. She felt as if she belonged in ShadowClan, nowhere else.
I might never be able to return to ShadowClan... This thought filled Forestsong with sadness every time she considered that possibility. She stood still for a few moments, and didn't speak. But I will not leave. Her claws unsheathed, Forestsong leaped into the air above Shadeclaw and aimed her claws at his back. If Shadeclaw wants me to leave, he is going to have to fight. In an instant Shadeclaw unsheathed his claws, and jumped into the air while twisting. He grabbed Forestsong's shoulders with his claws, and flung her away.
His fur fluffed, and his tail swayed across the ground, sending snow dancing through the air. Shadeclaw flicked his ears, "You are not in the best condition to fight, Forestsong. You should leave, now." He padded over to her, and his unsheathed claws left marks in the snow. I really don't want it to come to a fight. Nor do I want to hurt her, I don't have to. Ugh, why won't she just listen!
A breeze ruffled his fur, as he stood over Forestsong. "Be smart, and think about your options, and the outcome of each. If you fight me, things might not end up so well. Like I said, I don't want to hurt you." Shadeclaw flexed his muscles as snow continued to swirl from the sky. "Your decision."

Drops of blood stained the freshly fallen snow red, and Forestsong could feel her blood trickling down from her shoulders. She lay still in the snow for a moment, and she remembered the day she had found Echopaw being attacked by that rouge.
It was one of the few memories that she had left, and that day was her last in ShadowClan. She remembered how the forest floor under the apprentice was stained red, and she remembered being driven off that day, for it looked as if she had killed the apprentice.
Suddenly, her blue eyes blazed with anger. I didn't kill that apprentice! She kept her thoughts to herself, for she figured that it would be no use at the moment to try to change Shadeclaw's mind. Forestsong stood up, and let out a hiss. She stepped back quickly, and narrowed her eyes. "I'm not going to leave." Her voice was barely audible, and she began to run at Shadeclaw.
Forestsong ran as fast as she could, and right before she was about to collide with Shadeclaw, she dove to the left, sending up snow. She was close to Shadeclaw, and her fur almost touched his. As she dove, she aimed her unsheathed claws at Shadeclaw's side, hoping the blow would connect. The entire move was quick, for Forestsong knew that Shadeclaw was probably stronger than her, so she decided to use her small size and quick movements to her advantage. [/blockquote]

Shadeclaw tried to through himself to the side, and avoid the blow, but he wasn't quick enough. He felt Forestsong's claws come into contact with his fur, and when he jerked to the side, it only made it more painful.
Before he jumped away, he kicked out with his back legs, and sent her flying. He lifted his paw to take a step toward her, and cringed as the snow stung his wound. Shadeclaw waved his tail, "Attacking me, is not going to get you into Shadowclan. I don't know what you think this will help you with, or what you have in mind. It's certainly not going to prove that you're innocent."
He swallowed, and shook himself, flinching again. "Whatever you think you're trying to prove to me, by attacking me like this, isn't working. You're still going to leave our territory." Shadeclaw bunched his muscles, ready for her to attack him again. When will she stop fighting me... I want her to walk away from this fight, and I want myself to also... I guess I'll just have keep doing what I'm doing. Don't let her injure me, and I won't hurt her. She can't do this all night.

Laying on her side, Forestsong stayed still for several moments after Shadeclaw kicked her with his back legs. I don't think he understands my desperation to return to ShadowClan. Not moving, she could feel the blood continue to run down from her shoulders, and she watched the snow gently falling down from the sky. "You think I wanted to fight?" She stood up, and looked at Shadeclaw. There was a distant look on her face, and her gaze shifted to the ground.
"Do you not understand how hard it is for me to leave the home that I rightfully belong to? ShadowClan is my home..." Her voice trailed off to a mere whisper, and sadness lingered in her blue eyes. She so strongly wanted to go back to ShadowClan, that she once considered going over the ShadowClan border. Yet, she knew that she would most likely be killed or severely injured.
Forestsong felt as if her home felt like it was so close to her, yet, it was unreachable. I am innocent... [/blockquote]
